FAQ
Business Registration — Questions Founders Ask
The questions founders actually ask us, grouped by where they come up.
Getting Started
Which structure should I pick?
Depends on funding plans, liability comfort, and whether you have a co-founder.
Can I use my home address to register?
Yes, for most structures — you'll need a recent utility bill or rent agreement plus a No-Objection Certificate if you don't own the property.
How long does registration actually take?
7–12 working days for most structures, depending on document turnaround.
Can I register entirely from home?
Yes — registration is fully online for every structure; no government office visits required.
Do I need a CA or can I do this myself?
You can technically self-file, but most founders use a CA to avoid rejections from small documentation errors.
Can NRIs become directors or partners?
Yes — NRIs and foreign nationals can be directors in an LLP or Private Limited Company, though at least one director must be a resident Indian, and additional documentation (passport, overseas address proof) is required.
Costs & Documents
What documents do I actually need?
PAN, Aadhaar, address proof, and a Digital Signature Certificate for LLP/Pvt Ltd/OPC — see the full checklist.

LLP, OPC, and Private Limited do. A proprietorship generally doesn't need one to get started.
How is cost different across structures?
Proprietorship is cheapest, LLP is moderate, Private Limited and OPC cost more due to ROC filing fees — still modest relative to what they protect.
After Registration
What do I need to do right after registering?
Open a current account, and register for GST if you're crossing the threshold or selling on marketplaces.
