DIN (Director Identification Number)

In One Line

A unique number every director of an LLP or company must hold before they can be appointed — issued once, for life, by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

You can't be listed as a director or designated partner without one. It's applied for as part of the incorporation process for a new company or LLP, and separately if you're being added as a director to an existing one later. One DIN covers you across every company you're a director of — you don't need a new one per company.
